About Emily

Emily with green blue hair, smiling and waving, using a harness and climbing rope to hang from a metal bridge, with trees and blue sky in the background.

Emily Stratton is an interdisciplinary movement artist whose creations and classes invite everyone to absorb gut feelings made visual, laugh, be curious and overall, see themselves.

Her favorite medium is vertical and harness-based dance and most of her time is spent spreading the love via educational offerings or sharing choreography.

Although her obsession with this particular art form runs deep, all of her  creations, most often inspired by the nuance of human connection, begin with the concept rather than the aerial apparatus. Finding the perfect pairing between desired message and method of execution is a delicious process that allows her to access the entirety of her multi-disciplinary aerial, dance and theater training, and even more satisfyingly, collaborate with a wide range of skilled humans to build a small world for an audience to inhabit.

Her creations include live performances on the ring trapeze (her invented apparatus) and in harness, as well as aerial dance films on aerial plastic and in harness.”
